The Change of Sulfhydryl Group Contents by Feeding Diets of Different Protein

Abstract
This study is conducted to investigate the, change of sulfhydryl group contents in the liver and kidney in the course of time after feeding of diets different protein level.
The subjects were 54 male albino rats from pure strain weighing 270-280 g. They were divided into three groups by diets, the standard, low protein and high protein diet, and each group was subdivided into three groups by the lapse of time after feeding, 1 hour, 3 and 6hours.
After they were fed with the corresponding diet, according to the lapse of time, the sulfhydryl group contents in the liver and kidney were determined.
The results obtained are summarized as follows
1. In the liver, the sulfhydryl group contents is remarkably affected by diets, and so the low protein diet group shows approximately a half amount as much as the standard and high protein diet group.
And being estimated by the lapse of time after feeding, the standard and high protein diet group show a tendency to increase at 6 hours after feeding, and the low protein diet group demonstrates high contents at 3 hours after feeding and there is no change from 3 hours to 6 hours after feeding.
2. In the kideny, dietary protein have no influence on the sulfhydryl group contents and there is no great change in sulfhydryl group contents in the course of time after feeding.
The standard and high protein diet group are a little high at 3 hours after feeding and the low protein diet group is slightly low at 6 hours after feeding.
